Vision 2020

Vision 2020

"Our vision of Andhra Pradesh is of a state where poverty is totally eradicated; where every man, woman and child has access to not just the basic minimum needs, but to all the opportunities to lead a happy and fulfilling life; a knowledge and learning society built on the values of hard work, honesty, discipline and a collective sense of purpose."
- N.Chandrababu Naidu,
- President - TDP

It was during the leadership of Shri.Chandrababu Naidu, that an ambitious mission for the progress and prosperity of Andhra Pradesh was envisaged through the Vision 2020 programme. It is a holistically conceived scientific strategy to ultimately create a prosperous and powerful state.

By the year 2020, it would succeed in giving every individual a comfortable and productive life, opportunities to learn fulfilling the mission of 100% literacy in the state, develop skills, eradicate poverty and inequalities that continue to exist in our state.

To achieve the goals of all-round social development, Vision 2020 has set the following mission parameters:

* Eradicate poverty and take care of its old, infirm and genuinely needy
* Enable its people to learn, earn and lead healthy and productive lives
* Promote small families for a healthy and wealthy society
* Give its children a happy childhood and every opportunity to achieve their full potential
* Empower and support its women and girls to fulfill their roles as equals with the men in the economy and society
* Create the resources its people will need, such as capital and infrastructure, to transform their own futures
* Enable its farmers, entrepreneurs, and professionals to make agriculture flourish and build thriving industries and service businesses
* Embrace innovation and the latest know-how to grow crops, make its goods and provide high quality services
* Safeguard its environment and make its villages and cities clean, green and safe to live in
* Make its government simple, transparent, accountable and responsive
* Ensure that its people continue to have a strong voice and role in the governance of their state

This holistic enabling would be made possible through a three-fold approach:

1) Building capabilities, i.e., developing human resources, improving the quality of life in the state and attracting investment in the economy.

To achieve this, Andhra Pradesh through the Telugu Desam government, had taken up various initiatives when it was in power during 1995 – 2003, like:

» Janmabhoomi programmes,
» Velugu for the eradication of poverty,
» Neeru-Meeru for helping preserve and proactively contributing towards recharging ground water levels
» Pacchadanam-Parishubram (Clean and Green) for sustainable environment, habitable cities and villages, effective rural and urban civic services self help groups like DWCRA and setting up of committees to monitor programmes designed to provide drinking water supply, education through Vidya Volunteers and the recruitment of teachers and personality development.

Welfare programmes like

Roshni, Aadharana, Mundadugu, Chaitanyam and Cheyutha have been implemented for Schedule castes, Girijans, Backward classes, minorities, women and handicapped, as a safety net for the vulnerable sections of the society. Other programmes include homes for the weaker sections, Raithu Mitra for agriculture-farmers welfare, Animal husbandry development, forest development, and land development.

To improve the infrastructure in the state, development programmes in highways and ports, civil supplies, Andhra Pradesh road transport corporation, power and energy were taken up to contribute to growth of the economy.

2) Focusing on high-potential sectors as its engines of growth:

To stimulate economic growth the state would focus on specific sectors that offer high growth opportunities and contribute a sizeable part to the state's GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product) and employment opportunities.

» Rice, poultry, diary, horticulture, agro industry and fisheries in agriculture
» Construction, mining-based industries, labour intensive export
oriented industries (like garments and leather products)
pharmaceuticals, small scale industry and infrastructure in industries
» Basic information technology services, knowledge-based services,
logistics, tourism, small-scale services, healthcare and education in services.

3) Transforming Governance:
Driving the concept of Good Governance by channeling the government's efforts into enabling and facilitating economic growth, through administrative reforms and innovations like e-Seva. The core idea is to provide a clean, capable and transparent government that facilitates, not just controls, economic development.

Overseas Employment Advisory

Perhaps no other region in the developing world has produced such a vast number of knowledge-professionals who have proved their expertise and made their homes across the world, than Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh during the Chief Ministership of Shri.Chandrababu Naidu's had opened the floodgates to global investment in IT, Biotechnology, Tourism, Infrastructure and more. It gave outsourcing, off-shoring a new dimension globally. His vision has not only made IT reach the masses but truly become the great leveller in their quest for equality and equal opportunity across gender, caste and creed.

Now there are opportunities both within the state and abroad for our highly sought after IT professionals. The Telugu Desam Party invites your support and services to help guide mission-ready talent in finding the right work opportunities abroad, without falling prey to dubious placement consultants, human traffickers and tricksters and thus become a transparent and reliable platform for you to announce and advertise opportunities as well as guide professional talent in the right direction.

Knowledge Transfer

Telugu people have made their second homes in all continents across the world. It is also a fact that Telugu talent is the most sought after by the US, Europe, Australia and nations all over the world where Information Technology has revolutionized industry and transformed economies.

It is only because Telugus have carved their own niches across diverse industries including Information Technology, Medicine, Engineering, Alternative Medicine, Bio-Technology, Management and Arts.

Telugus who have gone abroad have entered all walks of life and excelled in diverse areas. Today, Telugu professionals are great repositories of knowledge and expertise.

A true professional always searches and finds the best channels to optimise output and gain recognition. Telugu talent today has been and still is ubiquitous. It has found a home in every corner of the world.

Telugu diaspora is truly multi-dimensional and trans-continental. Emerging talent in our homeland could benefit vastly from the knowledge and experience pool of Telugu people overseas is the intellectual, cultural and emotional freeway for you to enable sharing of knowledge and transfer of ideas to the immense potential waiting in the wings. Your professional experience is very much a potential catalyst to a knowledge-based affluent Telugu society of the future.

Reinforcing Culture

The roots of Telugu culture go deep and its branches spread wide while its history dates back to over fifteen hundred years of glorious achievements in language, literature, linguistics, culture, art and economics.

Andhra is the land of Kuchipudi and many older dance forms; the Ashtavadhaanam and Shataavadhaanam - epic contests of memory and association; the splendid Telugu language with its grammatical complexity (considered second only to French), and more.

It is the cultural foundation of the Telugu people that unites them and inculcates a spirit of togetherness, irrespective of geography or situation.

NRITDP.org is your avenue to cultural events, associations and activities to which you could contribute, witness as well as participate in.

We provide you information and access to a diverse range of programmes that help establish and maintain the bond of cultural togetherness and enable the retention and propagation of our cultural identity.

TDP President Nara Chandrababu Naidu Message

Every time I go abroad, I meet a lot of Telugu people and get to know about their developments. Every single interaction gives me a sense of pride and happiness and proves that one need not only grow in their motherland but anywhere in the world.

However, the longing towards the motherland is like a young child removed from the hands of a mother. It is this longing that keeps the connection with the motherland.

This strong connection between the Telugus overseas and Andhra Pradesh and their initiatives for sustainable development activities in their places of origin inspired me to start the “Janmabhoomi Programme” during my Chief Ministership. This programme received an overwhelming response from the Telugu Diaspora to contribute for causes related to health and hygiene, education and community development in their native places. The giving patterns are further diversifying as more Telugus continue to make their mark in their countries of origin and settlement.

In 1982, Shri.N.T.Rama Rao started the Telugu Desam Party to preserve and perpetuate the Telugu Pride and Identity. In this 25th year of the founding of the Telugu Desam Party, we are only carrying his dream beyond the borders of Andhra Pradesh and India.

During one of my visits to the United States, I met this young and enthusiastic lady working for an MNC who amazed me with her innovative ideas towards starting various kinds of development projects in Andhra Pradesh that would benefit people below poverty line. In fact, I have witnessed some of her ideas being translated into reality in few villages.

Another interesting incident was that of the visit of a small group of Telugus from Mauritius who met me during their pilgrimage to Andhra Pradesh. Their forefathers left our shores nearly 200 years ago. He also mentioned how over generations of their existence in a distant land they were able to maintain Telugu identity there by preserving our rich heritage. I was really moved when I learnt that in fact Telugu is a religion in Mauritius and it is a way of life.

The economic and intellectual success of the Telugus has not only boosted the confidence of the entire Telugu community but also has had a ripple effect back in Andhra Pradesh. This has sparked a wave of entrepreneurship and is contributing significantly to the economy by way of charity, employment generation, intellectual capital and remittances.

There is still further scope for bridging this gap and this is a major challenge for me as representative of the people, and for all of us Telugus residing in Andhra Pradesh who have benefited immensely from the success of Telugus beyond the borders of Andhra Pradesh.

Due to the repeated requests of Telugus overseas and as one of the ideals of the Telugu Desam Party, we have created this platform, to begin with in the cyber space to connect all Telugus across the globe.

I am happy to announce the launch of nritdp.org. To make this a successful endeavour, I request all the Telugus overseas to actively participate to preserve and perpetuate Telugu language, culture, customs and traditions. I also request the Telugu Diaspora to continue to share your economic and intellectual prosperity for the well-being, welfare and development of Andhra Pradesh making it a model state not only in India but also overseas, thereby making every Telugu feel proud about their homeland.

NRI TDP

Every Telugu living abroad, leaves something behind. Family, friends, relatives, well-wishers and has fond memories of home, childhood, school, town, favourite haunts, old colleagues and more.

But every Telugu leaving his/her homeland takes something precious along with the pickles and pattus - the essence of the Telugu traditions and the spirit of its culture that sprouts and blossoms as the years pass into a constant yearning and longing. Telugus have travelled and settled far away from home, across the world; but the Telugu culture and way of life never leaves them.

The number of Telugus living abroad has made TDP rethink on reaching out to the Telugus overseas. In the 25th year of TDP, has been envisaged as a platform to reconnect Telugus with the culture, traditions, progress and growth of their Telugu homeland. It facilitates the involvement of Telugu people living and working away from their homeland, in getting closer to Andhra Pradesh, their home, through the various programmes in the fields of health, education, rural development relief measures being implemented by Telugu Desam the Party under the leadership of its President, Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

This mission is thus a critical tool in the continuously unfolding vision of Telugu Desam. A vision that would constantly keep the growth of the Telugu land and the prosperity of every Telugu soul close to its heart.

The inner thought behind is to build a bridge between Telugus and their Telugu desam. A bridge of caring, learning, understand and sharing. A bridge that would empower you, as a Telugu, to give back and strengthen your associations, your town, your school, your people; and also your homeland, in helping the present and the coming generations, better.

It is a window of opportunity to reaffirm your faith in the Telugu culture and traditions and participate in its joys and festivities from wherever you are. It is a cultural resource, an instant connection to home, an event guide, a showcase and above all, the surest way of making a difference to your homeland.
